Identities

All of us are unique, aren't we?
Each one of us with a unique fingerprint, a unique DNA, and other such nuances. That should be enough, right?
Right?
Well, I don't think so. What is so amazing about your fingerprint that we can be proud of having a unique one? Does it enable us to fly? To shoot laser beams? Or is that it grants different powers based on the curve obtained by integrating the logarithm of our fingerprints design in three dimensional geometry?
Or maybe it's the DNA. Granted, it gives you your eye color, your hair etc etc...but the fact lies that it, in itself, is nothing much to boast of.

All we are being is proud of the tools we own. If they are somewhat unique, life is awesome. But shouldn't we be proud of how we USE those tools in a unique way? I mean, if I granted everyone a sword with each sword having unique designs, should they be proud of owning a sword?
Or should they learn to wield the sword? All in their own different styles, meant to suit each of them?

Our DNA, hair, fingerprint and all the other forensically unique characteristics are just that. Just characteristics. Some thing inherent. Some thing given freely. Something that none of us obtained by our own will. Gifts at birth can sure be handy, and can surely be appreciated. But, imho, are not something to be proud of.

If you want something to be(come) proud of, then be proud of the way you use your gifts.
That will be pride. Not the sin, but the virtue.
The rest is just ignorance.
