today is a poem

its been a wonderful day
flew around like a bird too fey
enjoying the fires that burn
watching the tides that turn

but then, the reality hits me
the house on fire, my pocket has the key
the tides turn in the war I wage
pleasure burns to crisps, now I'm just rage

Burning, eating, killing, consuming
my fury, the apocalypse looming
then I see a small white girl
no mother for her, on her cheeks lies a pearl

then it hits me, what I've done
I am the fool, good for none
killing innocents, I am undone
the fires I lit, now I must burn

I'm broken, humbled, shattered and tattered
All that I did, but none ever mattered
All I am, is a joker in the game
change everything, remain unchanged

Is this my fate?
to give out light and burn away
then it's one I can happily take
it's you for whom I ache....
